What is the best way to locate artwork you have seen only once?
Question by graydaze74: What is the best way to locate artwork you have seen only once?
I attended a comic book convention in Philadelphia, PA in 1996 (I think). I saw one of the coolest pictures ever. It was the back of a young girl, and her legs were in the water. In the reed/seaweed, there was something reaching up to grab her leg. It was one of the creepiest things I have ever seen. I seem to recall it being full of blue and purple tones. It was strikingly serene looking except for that arm. Being a starving art student I was unable to purchase it, and have regreted it ever since. I am unable to remember if it was a print or an original piece of art.
Since then, I have tried all sorts of searches to find it on the internet, but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on narrowing down my search for better results, or if anyone out there has actually seen this picture. I do not remember the name of the piece or the artist, but it has haunted me for over ten years, and I would love to find out more about it.

Sounds like something from the magazine Heavy Metal. You may want to contact them at http://www.heavymetal.com/ and see if they can help you.
Good luck!

Try to get in touch with someone who worked at that convention. Do you know any of the artists that were exhibiting there? They might be able to help you. It is difficult to find something like that when you don’t have an artist or title to search by. I really would try to contact someone who was there so they could at least point you in a direction. If it is an artist who isn’t very well known you may never find it on a search engine.

try asking some top sites like gfxartsit.com or any forums in the art world!!! maybe do a sketch of it or reproduce it your self then ask cause people will recognize quicker than remember from type… I like the reproduce it for your self idea….. if you are this passionate about it you will get very close quicker than you think no matter what level you are at…….
then you dont need to buy it you made it!
