Do people REALLY judge artwork by its ethnicity and publisher? (comic/manga related)?
Question by Alrestor: Do people REALLY judge artwork by its ethnicity and publisher? (comic/manga related)?
Really do they actually look at the name of who made said book and see if its an asian name or not and automanicly say its crap without skiming the book first? And also see what its published by?
Because my goal (like many others) is to get my manga out in stores, and truly I really think I have a great story. Its very original from all the other comics, infact to original I dont think I should even make it into a comic (but rather something else). And it is in no way the typical "I like to copy the other asian's art style" comic. But its still influenced (not trying to give away my style).
But I'm not going to even try if no one will give it a shot just because Im not asian (even though the art work and story is outstanding). To me anyways...but I really think millions will enjoy it.
When I mean,"Im not going to try",Its not like I have absolutely no work done at all.Not at all...I mean I wont even try publishing it.
@ hanzo: I never said my comic is made in Japan.Nor do I even have any comic published. And to restate the meaning of manga, its the same word for the english word comic.Just with a asian style of drawing.

Your "manga" is just a comic. If its manga then that means its made in Japan. Which I highly doubt it is. It may be the style of a manga, but its still a comic. To answer your question only idiots would judge the ethnicity of characters. You have to have talent and superior art skills.

i look at the genre and if im in the mood for that genre then i wll skim the first chapter or so to see if i will like it. dont care who the author is as long as the manga or manhwa is interesting and the art work is appealing. so i think people will enjoy it if you put your best effort into your project.
